Information for Cigna Dental Contracted Providers Regarding the Sale of the Cigna Healthcare’s Medicare Advantage plans to Health Care Service Corporation

The transaction for Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) to acquire Cigna Healthcare’s Medicare Advantage, Supplemental Benefits, Medicare Part D, and CareAllies businesses is complete.

To ensure a smooth transition, 2025 processes will largely remain the same.

Please continue to serve your Medicare Advantage patients with benefits administered by Cigna Dental with the same quality as always. You will be informed of any pertinent changes.

Caring for customers: With the close of the transaction, there are no changes to patients’ coverage, plan services, or benefits for the duration of the 2025 plan year:

  • Medicare Advantage patients with benefits administered by Cigna Dental remain enrolled in and covered by their existing plan for the 2025 plan year.
  • Billing, prior authorization, provider network contacts, and processes remain the same. We understand the importance of familiarity in your daily operations and are committed to maintaining these processes. We will let you know if anything changes.
  • For Medicare Advantage patients with benefits administered by Cigna Dental, continue to follow Cigna Dental’s Medicare Advantage policies for providing care.

When providing services, continue to:

  • Ask to see the patient’s Cigna ID card before all appointments.
    • Check eligibility and benefits before all appointments.
    • Follow utilization management review requirements and guidelines.
    • Follow the billing instructions on the patient’s ID card.

Provider agreements: We want to assure you that the terms of your current contracts, including reimbursement rates, remain in effect.  Through your contract with Cigna, you will still be an in-network provider for these patients. Your partnership with us is valued, and we are committed to maintaining this stability.
